The Online Poker League

Background:

The Online Poker League was formed in 2005 to give online players the chance to play in Texas Holdem and Pot Limit Omaha tournaments on a weekly basis and the results were used to produce a league table of which a champion was crowned each 3 months. The highlight of the tournaments was a series on Titan Poker in 2006 which culminated in a $400 freeroll tournament for qualifying players. For 2007 the format has been changed and a series of games will take place during the year which will more or less follow the types of games that are on offer at the World Series of Poker.

The Online Poker League Championship 2007

The games for The Online Poker League Championship will be played at PokerStars and in the case of any event that cannot be staged there a suitable alternative will be sought. (possibly Full Tilt) The series of events will consist of at least 18 games over the course of the year. Points will be awarded to players on the basis on money earned and the highest earning player at the end of 2007 will be crowned as our Online Poker League Champion for 2007. The games that are scheduled will be of varying buy ins and formats. Texas Holdem will form the basis of over half the games but there will be scheduled games of HORSE, Razz, Omaha & Stud. There will also be a number of Championship games hosted during the year which will have $22 buy ins and the winner of each of these games will be crowned as Champion of that discipline for 2007 and will receive a trophy in recognition of this.

The Online Poker League site for 2008

With the proliferation of online poker leagues I have decided to terminate hosting any games myself but I have set up a poker league link directory within the website so players can view all sorts of different leagues both online and live and decide which ones are best for them to play. I hope you like the new site.
